iPhone Day: The Movie

Here you go. Note: This is not a production of the StarTrib’s exceptional multimedia department, so don't blame them. This was made in the queue and edited in the car, which explains a lot.

Narration

Not bad, James. We all hope to get an update on the joys of the iPhone. Checked it out myself in Chicago and wowzers is that a nifty gadget!! I like the buzz.mn graphic at the end, too, with the little green dot "bleep!" Quite cute. Looking forward to more vlogs.

music in your video

Hi James, what's the name of the song in your video?

iVideo a winner

Great video. Nicely edited. Looks like the mobile production studio is working out. Time for man in the street interviews and location stories (Great Scott - you could be Wally Ballou) "-ames Lileks here, winner of seventeen diction awards, speaking to you from the Acme Jukebox Factory".

Yeah, It's A Cult

What more can I say. Right up there with the folks who camp out, waiting for tickets to the next Star Wars episode or a Peter Jackson movie. Except the movies are cheaper. Well, some.

Very nice on the scene video. Wish I lived in the area so I could see how the "real" TV news covered it.

He's got us

I see the video is up for the iPhone opening. So what do I do? I unplug my iPod earbuds form my iPod Nano and plug them into the computer to listen to the iPhone opening...

i've been swallowed by the apple.

Great Flick!

Two thumbs way up! I laughed, I cried.

My wife, who is not a technology person, is already plotting for one. Her current contract expires right around Christmas time. What timing! I'M the Mac Geek of the family, but she's the hardcore phone user. I can't compete. Time to start saving up for Christmas.

Thanks!

Very enjoyable -- almost like being there :) Hope you'll give us unboxing video too!

re: music

That's "Jump in the Line" by Harry Belafonte, used to wonderful effect at the end of "Beetlejuice." Glad you enjoyed it!

Jump in the Line

I think of "Beetlejuice" every time I hear that song (which isn't often enough, so thanks for using it)! On a related note, I also get a little paranoid that crazy things are going to start happening, if I hear "Day-O" while sitting at a table....

A cult? Eh.

I'm not an Apple fan-boy.

I use a Mac as my primary computer - but it's not my only computer, just the one I use to get work done. It's the only Apple product I use on a daily basis - I don't own an iPod or anything else.

But I gotta say my Mac is a damn fine bit of hardware. However it's the operating system that make it a joy to work with. This makes a diff wen you spend 10-12 hours a day working with computers.

Spend a few days in line for a movie, all you have are memories. Spend 12 hours in line and you've bought something. You can pick it up and use it - it's stuff in your hand. In my mind that's not really a cult but early adopters who have a reasonable expectation that Apple will easily fullfill their expectations.

Technical Questions

Curious to know what you used to capture the video. More curious to know what you used to edit the video.

Thanks James

Interesting to see what was happening at the
Mall of America. Too bad the crowd was so
well behaved. I wanted to see the rent-a-cops
in action!

yea, but will it blend
